Pastel Greenish Blue Radiant Aquamarine 24.83 ct | Ruangwa District Treasure
A 2022 expedition to Tanzania's Lindi District, initially pursuing rumours of Green Garnets, proved unfruitful. Redirecting to Ruangwa following reports of unique beryls, we encountered a range of material, predominantly including greenish-blue and yellow crystals. From this, a select few gem-quality pieces were secured.
In Nairobi, one exceptional greenish-blue beryl was masterfully cut and subjected to a slight, controlled thermal treatment to optimize its stability and colour. The result is a stone largely eye-clean to the trained observer, possessing a single, conspicuous inclusion near the pavilion's culet. When viewed face-up, as it would be in jewellery, this characteristic is effectively concealed, allowing the gem's exceptional clarity and lustre to dominate. This Ruangwa beryl stands as a testament to the value of adaptable field work and precise lapidary art.

Professional Gemmological Rationale for the Radiant Cut
Gemstone Cutting Style Highlights:
- Its brilliant facet pattern maximizes scintillation and eliminates light dead spots, animating aquamarine's hue with fire from every angle.
- The broad table and trapped light in its corners optimize color presentation, ensuring pure transmission and intensified saturation of the stone's delicate tone.
- The truncated corners provide superior durability by eliminating fragile points, making it a practical and secure choice for high-contact jewelry.
- Its rectangular outline allows for efficient yield from hexagonal rough crystals, conserving material and preserving carat weight without sacrificing beauty.
In Brief: The Radiant cut was the optimal choice for this particular Aquamarine, as it masterfully combines the brilliance of a round cut with the durability of a stepped shape, simultaneously maximizing light performance, protecting the gem from chipping, and showcasing its signature color with exceptional clarity and sparkle.
