The Kryptonite Duo | 1.86 ctw Tsavorite (Trilliant ) from kenya
Kenyan Tsavorite Garnet Duo | Mkuki Treasure Finds, Voi, Kenya
During our recent gem-hunting expedition in the Mkuki region of Voi, Kenya, we had the pleasure of discovering a remarkable Tsavorite lot of lush, vivid Green Tsavorites—gems that perfectly embody the beauty for which this area is celebrated. The Mkuki region is renowned for producing tsavorites of exceptional brilliance, characterized by an enchanting range of green hues comparable to those found in select Tanzanian deposits; however, there is a particular rich, deeper but medium green color rarely seen in Tanzania, which is a rare species even in this region.
From the lot, we selected a few pieces to show in our Gemvault in our store. These particular stones display a medium-intense green—a shade that is both intoxicating to the eyes and breathtakingly vibrant under natural sunlight. To fully capture the “green magic” radiating from these gems, we photographed and filmed them under professional lighting conditions in our lightbox. (See the images and video on this product page.)
During the cutting process, our gem specialists devoted significant attention to studying each crystal’s natural structure. After careful consideration, we selected the trilliant cut to best showcase their brilliance and fire. Although the stones were cut at different times, we have chosen to offer them together as a matching pair—ideal for collectors or jewelry designers seeking a stunning earring project. The larger gem may also be recut to precisely match the proportions of the smaller one if desired.
In terms of clarity, the larger Tsavorite displays moderate inclusions that are visible under close inspection but remain acceptable for its size and color grade. The smaller stone, on the other hand, is very slightly included, qualifying it as eye-clean—a rare and desirable quality among natural tsavorites.
Tsavorite is Kenya’s national gemstone, first made famous through Tiffany & Co.’s pioneering global marketing campaigns. This exquisite pair not only represents the pride of Kenyan gemology but also showcases the timeless allure of one of the world’s most captivating green gemstones.
